These Olive Green Nightstands Won Me Over
If you have a very hard time making home decor decisions for yourself (like me!), I suggest you consider incorporating a little olive green into your home furniture scape. When I’m looking for a new piece, my first instinct is to find something bold and colorful, but let me tell ya… that backfires when you are in your 30s and your home ends up looking like a kindergarten craft box color-vomited everywhere. I always need to remind myself to pull back on the color a little and incorporate some neutrals.
After months of searching for nightstands, I finally came across this olive green double-drawer model from Wayfair (on like page 72 of my search or something, lol). I was on the fence at first, but once I popped it into my bedroom mock-up in Photoshop it was love. It came with chrome knobs, but I changed them out for a smaller, satin brass knob by Signature Hardware.
I am waiting with impatient breath for my Haven bed from West Elm to show up because I can’t wait to see how the Lagoon performance velvet looks next to this nightstand!
My side of the bed was looking v. dreary with just a bare table, so I decided to temporarily jazz it up with things I had around the apartment until I can make more permanent decisions.
Eventually, I’m going to add some peel and stick wallpaper behind the bed, but for now, I really like the contrast between the pale green walls and the olive nightstands. I made sure to pick curtains that had a tiny bit of olive in the design as well to tie it all together.
I can’t make any decisions about lamp/lampshades until the bed comes because I need to visualize it first. Though… I do have my eye on this style shade from Etsy. I’m fully aware that there’s already a lot going on pattern-wise in this room, but maybe I’ll channel my inner Bunny Williams and go all out. Ha!
