The Easiest Way To Paint A Rainbow Polka Dot Pumpkin

I painted this pumpkin at a 5-year-olds birthday party. Isn’t it cute? (Yes, I’m the adult who’d rather do the crafts with the kids than mingle with people my age. 😂) The process for my polka dot masterpiece (all 5-mins of it) was super easy. This would be a great pumpkin-themed craft for a wine night with your friends.

This is a photo of a white, palm-sized pumpkin sitting on a bright pink backdrop with small orange pumpkins behind it. The white pumpkin has been painted with rainbow colored polka dots.

Step #1:

Wipe your pumpkin down with a rag or a paper towel to make sure it’s free of dirt and dust.

Step #2:

Choose the colors for your polka dots. I recommend no more than 5-or-6 for a more cohesive look.

Step: #3:

Put your pumpkin on one side of a paper plate. On the other side, squeeze out a very small amount of your paint colors. Try to get the paint dabs to look like mini chocolate chips. You want a plump little mountain of color to dip your brush into.

Step #4:

To make round polka dots on your pumpkin, use the backside of the paintbrush. Dip the tip of the handle into your paint color and find a pot on the pumpkin to place your dot.

Step #5:

Repeat with the same color until you have a decent amount of dots and then move on to the next color. TIP: Make sure you wipe the tip of the paintbrush handle between colors.

Easy peasy pumpkin squeezy!
