Dear Diary: Welcome To My Fresh Start
If my life were a romantic comedy this would be the part where I have the most adorable meet-cute with my soon-to-be forever person.
But this is a blog and not a hot guy. And really a blog is more like a baby than a lover. Something you shape and cultivate, not someone you conceal your bad habits from.
Today isn’t only the first day of August, it’s a Monday too. Two fresh starts for the price of one. I’m a sucker for a good fresh start, but for some reason, the month of August feels like the end of a chapter. The end of summer. The end of freedom before the metaphorical patio awning of school (with a tiny laughter-dampening troll working the crank) creeps out over your never-ending pool party, blocking out all the fun in the sun.
It’s not lost on me that maybe the stars came together for me to launch KathleenLovesColor.com this month and not in September, because this too is the end of something just as much as it is the beginning.
For 10 years my identity on social media has been @WebGirlKathleen and I’m shutting it down. Am I still on the web? Yes! Do I still do an assortment of web-related tasks every day? Who doesn’t?! But it’s a name that doesn’t suit me anymore. It feels itchy on my tongue and a little uncomfortable when I explain to someone why it was my name in a previous life. A life that I’m ready to put in the donation bag.
It no longer fits.
Anyway, what I’m actually trying to say is:
Hello! It’s nice to meet you -and- re-meet -and- re-re-meet you! My name is Kathleen Heaney. You can find me @KathleenLovesColor on everything*.
*Except for Twitter (@KatLovesColor) and Facebook (because they seem to be confusing my rebranding for hacking). Kindly, stand by. I’m working on it!
